Joycelynn was born in Atlanta, GA. She fell in love with hip-hop after purchasing her first hiphop album "The College Dropout" by Kanye West in 2004, she was in the 6th grade. At the age of 15 she started penning poems, lyrics,drawing doing anything to release her creative energy. Joycelynn's birthday is on June 12, she is a Gemini and believe's most Gemini's are very creative and make great artists, for example; Lauryn Hill, Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Tupac, which by the way are most of her favorite artists. In high school Joycelynn occasionally rapped with friends and did the rap battle thing but it was not until her 19th birthday in 2012 when she decided to release a mixtape. "It's time"....Joycelynn didn't like the state of hip-hop and how women where portrayed as subordinate, subservient, and inferior...J23 wants all that to change, she wants to influence youth,adults, convicts, teens,college students, everyone she can with solely her creative lyricism as an artist. Her first debut mixtape "Virtues & Vices" was released Christmas day of 2012 and is currently available for download. J23 is currently unsigned. Her second mixtape Street Poetry 0612 will be releasing this summer of 2013..
