About Band
In 2005, Crown of Thorns was formed. The line-up changed quite frequently, but the main members were Hayden Harris (guitar), Tristan Moir (bass), Luke Witham (drums) and Shannon Lang (samples). Metalcore by nature, the band never managed to leave the 'garage' stage, with Luke moving to Coober Pedy in 2007. The other members then also left--Hayden and Shannon to Adelaide--leaving Tristan in Port Lincoln. In 2008, talks were underway of reforming the band and reworking their old music into something new, but before this could come to fruition, Luke Witham passed away on the 19th of August, 2009. Distraught, the old members sought ways to cope.
Tristan decided he wanted to play music again and in September 2009 he was introduced to Ryan Dunn by his girlfriend. Only a few days later, he made his way to, what they call, 'the Office' to jam. There he met brother Blair Dunn and found that their music tastes were tremendously similar. From that first jam-session, the first Ace of Hearts song was written, "Scars of Redemption". Shortly afterward, Tristan brought in his sister's boyfriend Nick Shultz and called in his younger brother, Ethan Moir, to complete the line-up.
The band's artwork--including logos and cover-art--were all designed by Tristan's girlfriend, Karlia Benson, while she and Blair work on the band's lyrics.
A band, five-strong, Ace of Hearts prepares itself for exposure.
Ace of Hearts is currently working on their first, self-titled EP, to be released later in the year.
