About Artist
Adam David W. (Adam David Watmough) is a song writer and musician living in Brisbane, Queensland who has been involved in praise worship ministry for 20+ years in various churches around Australia. Taught to play the bass guitar by his pastor for his local church when he was 14, he went on to learn to play other instruments and began to sing in the church choir. Going on to sing as a backup vocalist, his vocal talents eventually led him to sing for Youth Alive on the Sunshine Coast where his involvement with the organization began his passion for song writing.
The songs Adam went on to write were recorded on several church albums and gave him the opportunity to work with people like singing evangelist David Evans, as well as many other talented musicians.
Adam’s passion for worship has kept him primarily focused on corporate praise and worship in the various local churches he has attended. He is currently serving as part of the music team at Nexus, a church on the Northside of Brisbane.
The Album
As God birthed a dream in Adam of recording his own album he sought God about the direction. He felt God was speaking to him about simplicity. The album was to be still based on worship but with a different sound and style. His aim was to keep things lyrically simple, keep the chord structure basic yet still be creative in its composition.
‘Washed away’ is the first song to be released as a single off his yet to be released debut album and is available now on iTunes. http://itunes.apple.com/au/artist/adam-david-w/id423388020?ign-mpt=uo%3D4
The song captures an essence of simplicity but is still very creative in its composition. The sound could be said to capture glimpses of ‘the David Crowder band’, ‘David Evans’, ‘Skillet’, early ‘Parachute band’, ‘Delirious’ and others who have all been a creative influence on his style. If you had to put it in a box it would be classed as Progressive Praise and Worship.
Adam explains the meaning of the song ‘Washed away’. “The song is based on the scripture Micah 7:19 ‘Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!’ New Living Translation. God chooses to remember our sins no more because of the price Jesus paid on the cross. The blood of Jesus has washed away our sin and has left us blameless in Gods sight. He has freed us from the bondage's of sin and death and broken the chains that bind us. He who the Son sets free, is free indeed. This is truly a reason to rejoice and give thanks to our amazing loving God”.
Adams upcoming album called ‘the Message is Simple’ is due to be released June/July of 2011. You can expect the same unique Progressive Praise and Worship sound and approach as ‘Washed away’.
Featuring on the album is a new arrangement of ‘Come’ a popular song of Adams that has been recorded twice before on church albums such as Brisbane City Church’s Cre8ive ‘Breathe again’ and Citygate’s Bootleg 2.
Adam says “The title track ‘Simple song’ is the heart of the project. It captures a truth , our hearts are the key in worship not the words we sing. If all we sing is ‘I love you’, that is enough because God knows our hearts and it is our hearts that connect with God not the words we are singing. Too many words can often be a distraction in worship and get in the way of entering in.”
Be sure not to miss out on the exciting release of ‘the Message is Simple’ in June/July on itunes.
