About Artist
Bio:
Alec Harrison is a solo artist from the Boston Area. He writes his own songs, performs his own vocals and piano. He has been songwriting since his freshman year attending Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. The first song he wrote and recorded in the studio was "She's Risin'" in the summer of 2006. He coproduced with producer Ej Oulette and continues to collaborate with many other artists and producers.
Influences:
Alec listens to a vast variety of music from classic rock to hip-hop. His favorite artists are Common, Kayne, 311, John Mayor, and the Roots.
Subject Matter:
Alec's subject matter is greatly influenced by his own personal experiences. His current project is a song inspired by the novel "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier," written by Ishmael Beah. He met Ishmael when he came to provide a lecture at Roger Williams University in the Fall of 2007. The Crisis of Darfur is very important to Alec. He trys to be as active as possible with spreading the awareness of the issue. Making change and taking action is very important to Alec and he hopes that the music industry will be a perfect way to make change possible.
