About Band
Rather than the drab bands thrown into the mainstream “rock” uniforms and writing songs to a bland formula, Bryon Joseph, the main proprietor of “Alternative Noise Project”, has ventured outside of the well beaten path and taken the road less traveled. Unique and palatable, this piece of work is an intrepid reflection of a world stripped of its facade and vividly gazed upon with insight and disillusion. It is a vision that many artists of the day do not possess.
The music itself is vibrant and moving, then again it can also hint towards a touch of slow soothing melody and soft haunting beauty. It is forward yet always continues to maintain a level of intrigue to its character. From rugged guitars backed by sophisticated and deeply hypnotic soundscapes to warm acoustic tones supported by deep symphonic composition, the sound is rich and alive. At the foundation is structured an eclectic blend of various guitar sounds and styles neighboring along side layers of synthesized harmony. Adding diversity to the arrangement lays an entrancing use of unconventional instrumentation such as vibraphone, flute and coronet. The vocal, powerful and a bit raspy at times yet at others as soft as a vague and elusive echo, evokes thoughts and emotions of from well within. Accompanied by a barrage of infectious rhythm and illusive break beats, it makes for an insatiable and addictive wall of sound that promotes a truly unique and pioneering vibe.
Surrounding a solid foundation, lays a deluge of intelligent subject matter. Bold and dynamic lyrics brilliantly manage to touch on particular political issues and also make poignant social commentary that is wrapped in subtle metaphor. Above that, the time is still found to incorporate feelings toward life, love and other aspects of the world that envelops the writer.
The concept has found a place somewhat in the tradition of acts ranging from The Cure to Radiohead to Nine Inch Nails and so forth, with a freedom and imagination reminiscent of such classic artists as David Bowie and Pink Floyd. A vast array of stylistic influences is heard as well such as elements of hip-hop and electronica to derivatives of blues and folk that stand out from the obvious rock genre. All in all, the project completely possesses its own sound and identity and is indeed its own entity.
This whole notion began as an ingenious idea that would permit a rare musical liberty and release. Talk and conceptualizing for “Alternative Noise Project” began in an extremely desolate area northeast Utah, where it was possible to attain a particular freedom from the more structured outside society, such as the music suggests. But the project has relocated and has currently found residence in Salt Lake City, where front man Bryon Joseph has spent long hours and countless nights sculpting these ideas into fanciful songs and the bewildering atmosphere that they provide. Given the versatile and unique audience that has taken a liking to this material, Bryon plans take the music in a direction of a more raw and rhythmic core with deeper melodies topped with an increasingly articulate and audacious lyric undertone.
Now promoting the first release “Vibration And Resonance” and its follow up e.p.’s it is obvious that this project conveys a presence both on record and in person. And equipped with steep conjecture Bryon Joseph sets forth with the concept that is Alternative Noise Project-
