About Band
Formed in early 2006 in Clarksville, AR....the band originally started working out powerful songs in a 8x10 storage unit. The original line-up: Winston Monroe-Vocals, Zac Archuletta-Vocals, and Mike Riggio-Drums. They added Justin Bradley on as a guitarist and shortly thereafter, Mike swapped his drumsticks for guitar pics and focused more on writing. Dylan Rylee joined ATAWS on drums and shortly afterwards, decided to let the band go to focus on family. In May of 2007, Gunner Floyd took Dylan's spot on the drums, but Winston was injured in a near fatal car accident leaving him in a coma and the rest of the band on hold. Terrell Flurry replaced Justin Bradley on Guitar and Zac "Snack" Coker came in and added the final piece (bass) to the bands sound. The accident forced the band to focus on re-structuring their sound with the addition of new members bringing their diverse musical tastes into the band. The message they are spreading in their newer material (as of yet in the recording process) is a more positive message to the young local demographic.
And The Angels Were Silent is too unique to label. From pummeling double bass and slow chugging breakdowns to catchy hooks and melodic harmonies this band covers all shades of the musical spectrum. With so many musical influences we can only say that from Boston to Dallas Green and Bring Me The Horizon to Unearth, their songs each take a direction completely different from the previous song.
ATAWS has played numerous concerts to spread awareness on such issues as cancer and the state of the local economy by helping fans realize that poverty and hunger are in our own back yard, and that we as a group can do something to help.
ATAWS live performance comes on with a burst of energy that never wanes throughout the show. Their instrumental athleticism and magnetic stage presence draws everyone to the front-lines of the stage. The tight band the band shares is prevalent on stage and their love for writing and sharing their music is growing their fan base with every performance.
