The Story Behind As Bridges Burn

 

As Bridges Burn started, in essence, way back around 2000. Rob Sims and Brian Sims, cousins, went from band to band, searching for a specific sound and honing their skills as guitarists. It took seven years, though, for the right sound to find them. Enter Justin Hubbard, formerly of Broken Anthem. The guys called Justin up in July of 2007, knowing that he was probably already in a band, but hoping he'd jam with them nonetheless. After a couple of days, Justin agreed to jam with them until they found a permanent drummer, but after a couple of sessions with Rob and Brian, that idea went out the window. Fast forward to the present: enter Shane Nimmo. As Bridges Burn was having some problems with finding a bassist that fit in until Justin remembered a guy that he had played with on a few occasions. Unfortunately, Nimmo was currently singing for a band called Tri-Cross Tragedy, so they never called him up....but.....one day, while in the tattoo shop, Rob and Justin ran into Nimmo and ran the idea of playing bass again by him. He didn't need to be asked twice. The four of them have been together for only a brief period now, but they have a great sound and a lot of potential. They plan to practice through the end of the year and begin touring in January of '08, beating the worn path of clubs, bars, and parties all across the southeast. Keep an eye out for these guys.

 

The Music of As Bridges Burn

 

 As Bridges Burn is a double-edged band. They play the heavy, melodic music that you'd expect from a great metal band, but they also have a tendency to slow everything down with beautiful acoustic work. All four of the guys sing, which yields some wonderful vocal harmonies, and they all contribute to the writing process, which makes everything sound fresh and different. Inspiration is drawn from every style of music: classical, acoustic, metal, jazz, Latin, world, blues...you name it. They also have the advantage of having an inside producer who knows exactly what the band wants and precisely how they want it to sound, Justin, who produced their first EP, Echos of a Memory (all acoustic). In short, to really understand what As Bridges Burn is all about, you'd just have to see them at work.
