Athazagora was started in mid-2008 by lead guitarist Tony Borck and original drummer Robert Bennett after the demise of their previous band. A few months later, they found their lead vocalist, who now takes on the role of drummer; Dillon Spivey. Next came the one known only as Santa, who filled the empty bassist slot in January 2009. In February of that same year, Robert left the band, which sparked Spivey's switch to drums, and Shane took up lead vocals, while Antti joined up on rhythm guitar.

With influences spanning throughout the world of music, Athazgora brings a new breed of metal to the Richmond, KY area. They are not going to be your new favorite radio-friendly media slaves.
