About Band
Atresia is the continuation of Tucson thrash band Grimaced, featuring three of four members of its prime lineup. The band is basically a mature pursuit of the sound explored in that band, and mainly picks up where it left off. Atresia's sound has influences from Thrash, Power Metal, Death Metal and Progressive. An appropriate labeling would probably some form of "Extreme Power/Thrash" or simply Power/Thrash. We are probably one of the only power metal-esque bands in Tucson, but we have a heavy thrash and aggressive influence that dominates the sound. Combining heavy use of thrashy guitar riffs, as well as power/progressive chord progressions, and clean mid range vocals and high soaring falsettos, all layered over with aggressive and pounding death metal drum techniques, the band uses several aspects to develop its sound. The lyrical aspect is one of politics and social awareness. There is critical analysis of the political, religious and social institutions in our world, as well as an awareness of conspiracies, and hiding of truth. The band makes it a point to be socially aware of the events unfolding in the world around us, and the bands overall theme is very conceptual.
