Maybe it was the smell of burning rubber blowing through the prairie breeze… it could have been from the sound of a V8 screaming at 6000 rpm. Attack Addict was officially formed in May of 2006 by two brothers from Saskatchewan. Evil Marx wrote a couple songs and decided to record them at a Calgary recording studio. There was no real preparation for what he and Renslip recorded in those 2 days… in fact, it was the first time the two of them had ever played those songs together. After rave reviews from their 4 song demo, the two of them quickly started writing songs in order to create the first Attack Addict full length album: “Listen First, Shoot Later”. At first, they had brought their eldest brother (the Rooster) on board to help them out with their first show by playing bass… he was immediately demoted to Roadie status following the gig due to drunken Irish tempers/Jack Daniels, which is when TEN FOOT TOBE comes into the picture. After a couple months of crash course rehearsals across Alberta, the band was ready to hit the studio and record their first album in December ’06. After recording the album, Attack Addict quickly started playing around Calgary’s underground punk scene. Their CD was embraced by people in the local music scene and their song “I’m Down with the Devil” would be used as a theme for a Calgary bar called The Distillery. The bar would even use the song in their radio commercial on 92.9fm. Not long after, Marx was approached by “The Punk Show” on 92.9 to do an interview in which they would play yet another one of their songs on air. Attack Addict then started planning a tour that would take them into the USA. Originally they were to open for Ex-Misfits lead singer Michale Graves in Wichita, Kansas…. Unfortunately his tour was cancelled, but that didn’t stop Attack Addict. They booked shows in Wichita, Austin and Houston, Texas. The band is now hard at work writing songs for their sophomore album and will be traveling way up high in the sky to bring the heavy to your local watering hole. Are YOU Down with the Devil?
