About Band
Beer and Pretzels was established in 1996 by Chad Wright and Jon Kashetta.
The current lineup is as follows:
Chad Wright: guitar, vocals, keyboards
Jon Kashetta: guitar, vocals, loops
Jon Wertman: bass guitar, vocals
Josh Updegrove: percussion
Back in the early days, before there was a bassist and a drummer, some very odd songs were written using guitars, keyboard loops and pounding on random objects. Most of these songs were recreated with drummer Aaron Reigel and bassist Tom Diehl on the album "See The Music". Some of those old numbers also pop up on later albums, for example "Pungent Stench" appears on the "Awkward Silence" album and "Refrigerator" appears on the "Avoiding Thought at Any Cost" album.
The newest material on the album "'EEM!" encompasses the greatest creative power and musical ability Beer and Pretzels has ever been capable of to this date. One of the major reasons for this was the decision to bring Josh Updegrove on as drummer back in April of 2005. As soon as he joined, it was like a switch. The writing process became more involved with all four members of the band, and the music jumped in creativity level almost instantly. The entire "'EEM!" album was written in about a year, and recorded in a few days. Some of the band members feel that more time should have been spent on it, but there was an urgency to get this new stuff out on CD so people could hear the new Beer and Pretzels.
Work is currently being done on new material. There are several songs in the works. More time will probably be spent creating the next full-length, and the quality will be much better, as it will be all digital recording (but still DIY, of course) :)
