Benji was born Jamicheal Harris on November 22 in Atlanta, GA. Young Benji grew up in a family of hustlers; “Get it how you live” is a way of life. From running numbers, poker games, and casinos, there was always a family member around to show Young Benji a new way to make money, hence the name Young Benji. Young Benji’s presence is felt all over the city from growing up on Moreland Avenue, hanging out downtown Atlanta, to chilling in the suburbs of the city. Fast life and fast money is the way of life for Benji.
The twenty-two year old poet has been rapping for years. Although his first love is basketball, he always knew that he had the skills to become a rapper. He has created a style of his own which he defines as smooth crunkness. He always knew that he could rap but not until about 2 years ago did he decide that he wanted to pursue rapping as a career. His musical influences are Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Lil Wayne, Mos Def, Jagged Edge, P. Diddy, and R. Kelly.
