The current incarnation of Black Market Halos has been around since 2004. Although forming in 2001, several line-up changes hindered progress and slowed the band’s momentum. Initially, Black Market Halos began as a metal band with heavy southern influences and the original songs were just that - simple, driving, southern metal that show much potential. After acquiring current drummer, Ty Humphrey, in early 2004; the band set off into the studio to record our debut CD, “Hymns of Rebellion”. This CD was a combination of songs written with previous drummers as well as their current one, showing the bands evolution since forming and closing a chapter of their history. With the CD released in May 2006, the band set about to write a whole new chapter as the tightest and most creative unit they had ever been. By constantly evolving, following no trends, and persevering in the face of doubt, Black Market Halos has had the fortune of playing many shows with some greatest bands throughout the area. It’s still southern metal - make no mistake, but not a tribute. It’s everything the band loves about metal soaked in whiskey and put through the grinder. With that in mind, our 2nd CD "Cleansing" was born. It’s a whole new demon that sets no stake in the past. Released on the eve of 2009, it was the beginning on a new year and a new Black Market Halos. The plan now is to continue writing and play as many shows as possible, anytime – anywhere. Our fan base is growing, our music is evolving, and we are poised to take on the world.
