Blame the Bassist - Blaming Bassists since 2007!

We're a 5 piece band all on the ND Music Performance couse at Kidderminster college.....as well as doing covers we write our own music with genres ranging from ska, blues and metal....

We cover all different styles because we have alot of different influences within the band such as :

-Pantera

-Rancid

-Jimi Hendrix
-Wishbone Ash
-Iron Maiden
-Skunk Anansie
-Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Here's just a little bit about each of the members in Blame the Bassist.

Alanah Jones (aka Lanah, Larni, Llama, Cleft). = Lanah has been singing since she was seven years old, her early influences ranging from Aretha Franklin to The Who.

Russ Tolley (aka The Rabbi). = Russ has been playing bass for 5 years. His influences come from Funk and Soul, with bands such as Level 42, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Marcus Miller. 

Matt Hale (aka Mr.Moteef). = Matt is the first half of the twin lead sound of Blame the Bassist, and has been playing guitar for a year and a half, and played bass for a year before that. His favourite bands are Pantera, Metallica and Machine Head. Matt almost single handedly composed our song 'The Meteor', and came up with the chords and riff for 'Going Home' earning him the nickname Mr Moteef.

Steve Britton (aka Ginger, DancinSteve). = Steve is the other half of the twin lead guitar attack, and has been playing guitar for three years, and also has played drums for five years, and bass for a year before that. His influences come from 70's Prog and Blues rock, his favourite bands being Wishbone Ash, Thin Lizzy and Pink Floyd.

Mike Hobin (aka Hogan, The Meteor). = Mike has been playing drums for three years and is completely self taught. His influences are Iron Maiden, Dream Theatre and Rush. Mike is also a talented vocalist, with styles ranging from Death Metal screaming, to Justin Hawkins of 'The Darkness'!!

We formed in september this year, and we've officially "blamed the Bassist" since!
