About Band

Blame Zeus was formed in December 2010, from the own free will of its 4 members, Sandra Oliveira, Luís Carvalho, Diogo Vdinha e Ricardo Silveira. Sole “survivors” of the “late” band Hyphen, Sandra and Ricardo decided to start something new, by looking for band companions that had the same goals as they did. The most important thing was to find someone with whom it would be easy to talk to and exchange ideas, someone that wanted to create excellent and innovative Rock music, and above all pleasurable to play and sing with, no matter how long it took. They already knew Luís from previous collaborations and, since they recognized the quality of his musical work, they decided to invite him to be part of this new project in November 2010. Immediately he suggested Diogo Vidinha for the bass player position, who contaminated them with good spirits the minute he set foot in the rehearsal room! They thought about inviting a keyboard player too, and they worked with Luís Guimarães, ex-Hyphen, but he left a short time later for personal reasons. From there on they didn’t look for anyone else, as they were satisfied with the sound from just 3 instruments and a voice. The first song to be composed was “Down to Earth”, which was initiated by a bass riff, a melancholic melody that speaks about failed or postponed dreams, but hoping that setting your feet on the ground and hands to work will be a better method to achieve them than spending your days thinking about it. Meanwhile, they created “Where’s Your Mommy”, with a heavier riff, more energetic, which is in fact a sarcastic hymn against hypocrisy, lies and mediocrity. The year of 2011 was dedicated exclusively to creating new songs and perfecting them. With their time divided between rehearsals and their own personal and professional lives, Sandra wrote and Luís, Diogo and Ricardo composed “Accept”, “Shoot Them Down”, Undercover", “Bed”, “Crystal Ball”, “Incarnate” and “Falling of the Gods” (this last one inspired by the tv series “Xena”, much appreciated by the vocalist… and that tries to transmit that even those who think they’re gods can fall). In March 2012 they decided to record the songs. They’d done it so far in a more relaxed and carefree format in the rehearsals, but now wanted to prepare them to be shown to the world. Benefitting from the fact that Luís has the material and knowledge necessary to produce and master, all recordings were made in his house and the rehearsal room. They interrupted the creative process, agreeing that the main thing now would be to build the way to publicize the band. In May the opportunity came up to play 80’s rock covers in Twin’s Foz. From this situation Encore were born. Though this branch of the band is not a priority, it helps to create the bonds and gain the experience needed for a good relationship on and off the stage. In September they had their first professional photo shoot with photographer Andreia Cartaxo, which allowed them to work the Internet social and musical media. Nowadays they carry on with studio work and with the creation of new songs. Meanwhile, in December 2012, Luís Carvalho leaves the band for personal reasons and André Ribeiro takes his place as guitarist. In 2013 they played in Metalpoint, a well known live music spot, in Oporto, among others. Now they intend to record the album, and play as much as they can, to promote their music.
