Born Victim formed in late 2005, when friends and musicians Charlie Ripperger and Mark Tondi met up after the break up of their band Blind Eyed Jakes to start writing music again. Growing up through the pop punk scene they were ready to move on to something different. Always eager to hear new and exciting music they kept their influences open. In november of 2005, guitarist Charlie Ripperger met with guitarist Matt Klahr for lessons.

Klahr was eventually invited to play with Tondi and Ripperger's new project. Mark and Charlie soon clashed their hardcore and technical influence with classic metal and blues guitar from Klahr. Through connections the band met up with bass player (and now drummer) John Kearns . Soon after they realized that they were lacking vocals, Ripperger contacted long time friend and former band mate Jon Grande to fill the spot. Grande was more than ready to get started. Through playing tons of shows, including 2006's New England Hardcore and Metal Festival and recording their demo they found themselves having a good time. Unfortunately however, drummer Mark Tondi, gave his two weeks notice in search of a musical career in college.

With no hard feelings, the band was now left without a drummer, and the band was suddenly put on halt. Luckily to the bands good fortune, bass player John Kearns elected himself to fill Tondi's spot as a drummer, and replace the search for a percussionist with a much easier search for a bass player. As the band searched, long time friend Tom Campell filled in on bass until the band was complete again. Finally Ripperger found bass player Rob Marino, a college student in search of a dedicated hardcore/metal band.
