About Band

Boxkar started in 2001 with the convergence of Chris Szebeni(lead singer/songwriter) and Bryan Bremer(rhythym guitar/songwriter). Even before they cemented their line-up, Bryan and Chris had already gained the attention of producers, agents, managers etc.  People seemed drawn to Chris' stylistic, energetic stage presence and vocal ability and Bryan's songwriting skills that appealed to listeners of all kinds. The attention they received landed them in a studio in Tampa, FL to record their first CD titled "Rockstar Weekend". This CD was well received and helped Boxkar to hook up many great shows in the midwest.

They rode this momentum into their second album, which was self titled.  Coming out of an area that was known mainly for cover music, Boxkar was standing out with their originals.  As for their live shows, Chris Szebeni was turning Boxkar gigs into a true event that audiences couldn't get enough of. A true front-man, entertainer and well trained vocalist, Chris was bringing back a vibe to the live music scene that's been missing for quite some time. In the summer of 2006, Boxkar grabbed themselves two WAMI(Wisconsin Area Music Industry) awards. The "Male Vocalist of the Year" went to Chris, and Boxkar was named "Best Band in 2006". Because of this growing attention, Boxkar nailed down some of their best gigs up to that point. They were now picking up shows headlining well known festivals around the midwest, including the Harley Rally and Summerfest. They also played the infamous Viper Room in LA and caught the attention of many people on the west coast. In January of 2005, Boxkar was invited to play the Presidential Inauguration in Washington, DC. They were on the bill for "The Future Rocks Today" concert, held at the DC Armory with artists such as Fuel, Ryan Cabrera, Ruben Studdard, Hillary Duff and Three Doors Down. This achievement caught the attention of Geoff Barton(Chief Editor) from Classic Rock Magazine out of London, England. Mr. Barton personally reviewed the CD in the Magazine and gave it incredible marks. He personally contacted the band and did a full page spread in the 2006 March issue.

This leads us into the third and most recent CD, "Comin' out Swingin," which was eagerly reviewed in the 2007 January issue of Classic Rock Magazine by Mr. Barton, who rated this album near the top of his scale. Also, this CD took home the WAMI award for "Album of the Year" in 2007. This was a great accomplishment since Boxkar was going up against several great bands, including Skillet, which is a band that was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2007.

Boxkar's success has pleased many, but they are not finished yet. Chris and Bryan, along with fellow bandmates Matt Hammen on bass, Tom Thiel on lead guitar and Matt Gieseke on drums are in it for the long haul. Come and take a listen!
