About Artist

Love to record my own material. As far as influences go, I really don't like going into all of that, because it's for one, kinda personal, and two - noboby usually seems to care anyway :) As far as my material goes, I really don't know how to catogorize that. I mean, nowadays it seems that there are WAY too many catagories out there now, in which most of them I don't even know what they are or sound like. So I just do 'my thing'. It's kind of a blend of acoustic/folk rock with as much 'experimentation' as I can put into it I suppose. I mainly play guitar and piano, but I also have to play all of the other instruments as well, since I have to record everything myself. Occasionally I'll have someone else to play with me on a certain track or instrument. Unfortunately, most of my songs end up being rather 'slow', and most people like to play a well-rounded 'mix' of all tempos. So for that main reason, I usually just record the parts myself & hope that it sounds good. I've been into the world of recording since about 1988-89. A very good friend of mine helped come up with a way to make a 'three-track' out of an old radio shack stereo system. (sounded like hell, but it worked:) Since then, I've used 4-tracks, 6-tracks, 8-tracks, (all mostly analog) 16-tracks, and on up. I still use an old Tascam reel-to-reel 8 track from time to time. It can just make some songs 'sound better' by itself. But in the end, the songs have to speak for themselves, and let others be the judge. I don't lke 'hype' or 'hyping-up' my songs. I'd MUCH rather the listener make that call. I also don't really like talking about what each song 'means' or 'what the lyrics are about' either. Once again, I think the listener should be the judge of that and get whatever he or she 'gets' out of it. (it's a lot more fun to me that way.) Hope you dig. -morris
