Brandon Scott

About Artist

Brandon Scott, born in 1981 in Virginia, grew up under the reign of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and other artists like Prince.  This sparked an immediate love of music.  Scott stuck typically to old-school Pop and R&B until he heard the "Get a Grip" album from Aerosmith, which led him to open himself up to more Rock artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, and Nirvana just to name a few.

At the age of 15, his new-found love of Rock led Brandon Scott to decide that he wanted to learn how to play guitar.  He borrowed a spare 6-string electric from his uncle, bought a book of guitar chords, and Brandon Scott was well on his way...or so he thought.  While learning to tune his instrument, Scott broke a string, prompting him to quit.  He was more of a drums guy, anyway.

Fast-forward eight years...Brandon eventually learned how to play the drums so that he could be a part of his cousin's band.  During this time, Scott began to look deeper into other forms and variations of Rock, studying past acts such as Pink Floyd and Marillion, as well as new Prog bands like Coheed and Cambria, Porcupine Tree, and the Dear Hunter.  As the band dissolved after a year, Scott decided that he wasn't ready to be done with music, and knew that he would have to give the guitar another chance.  With a little help from a friend and a few books, Brandon Scott began to put it all together, even incorporating synth influences from the 80s music that he's so fond of, and over the past 3-4 years has developed into what you hear now.

The base message of Brandon Scott's music deals with relationships, but not the typical lovers' dynamic that we're all used to.  It delves deeper into relationships between family, friends, the human condition as a whole, and the understanding of our need for one another.  The mission statement on his MySpace is as follows:

-------   As I've grown, so has my musicianship, my understanding of music and its power, and my desire to utilize it in the most passionate way possible to have some, even if minute, impact on the world we live in. I hope you'll listen, feel, and relate.  --------  Brandon Scott
