Can You Keep a Secret. It’s not a question, but the name of a band that is quietly making a splash in the New Jersey music scene, turning people onto their infectious pop rock hooks, aggressive stage presence, and positive attitudes.
Forming less than a year ago, Can You Keep a Secret is an emerging name out of Asbury Park, but the barely twenty year old members are local music veterans. Rising from the ashes of central New Jersey’s two most noted local hardcore bands, The Killing Sequence and In Harm’s Way, CYKaS became a more creative outlet for the quartet (Alan Scarpa, Bill Pokriots, John Abbate, Josh Craig) to showcase their various musical talents. Armed with the knowledge gained from their previous years of experience touring, booking, and promotions, these boys are ready to settle into a permanent band and move in the musical direction they were always meant.
Incorporating an array of influences, ranging from the epic era of classic rock, feel good old school pop, and head banging hardcore, CYKaS is putting their stamp on a brand of pop-rock that appeals and speaks to the masses. Onstage, these boys embrace their hardcore pasts and rock out, exuding an energy that forces everyone in the crowd to dance their asses off to the band’s explosive sound.
The past few months have been a whirlwind of excitement for Can You Keep a Secret, headlining shows and establishing themselves as a staple in the Jersey music community. Combining all of their resources, CYKaS has put all of their heart, vigor, time, and finances into ensuring the future success of the band. Releasing a professionally recorded two song EP, featuring the dance rock favorite “Let’s Say We Did,” the boys have made this band and their music the number one priority in their lives.
