About Artist

Carlos Morgan aka Carll Parkes, a talented singer, songwriter, musician and producer is poised to break on a global level.  "Feelin' Alright", Morgan's debut album, showcased the diversity of Morgan's sultry singing stlye  with seductive ballads like "Let Me Love Again" and "Forever For You" to the upbeat  R&B tracks "Give It To You" and "Baby C'Mon".

Originally recorded as an independent release for DTone Records, it quickly became one of Canada's hottest selling indie albums of 1996/97, topping the charts at number three on The Record's independent charts after only two weeks of release.  "Whatcha Got" co-written and co- produced by Morgan and Chris Rouse went Top 40 in Canada. Its inclusion on the top 50 Canadian CHR songs for 2000 and MuchMusic Video Award nomination, paved the way for his re-introduction as a self produced artist.

In 1997, Morgan was honored at The Juno Awards F/ Best R&B/Soul Recording for "Feelin' Alright", 1997 Best R&B/Soul Video F/ "Give It To You" at the MuchMusic Video Awards, 1997 & 1998 Canadian Urban Music Award F/ Best Vocalist and Best R&B Video F/ "Give It To You". Morgan was the 2nd ever recipient of the 1998 SOCAN Urban Music Awards;awarded for both his talent and pioneering efforts to bring notoriety to the many gifted urban music artists in Canada. Morgan was also awarded Best New Comer and Best Songwriter at the 1997 Caribbean Cultural Committee Awards.
In 2002, Morgan had the repeated distinction to be included into the Canadian Who's Who; Canada's oldest and complete who's who publication.  "Those included are not only selected based on merit alone, but selected on the contribution they have made to life in Canada". Elizabeth Lumley: Editor.

For Morgan Parkes, the stage has always been a place where he comes alive and feels most at home.  "If you've never seen this guy live, you have to check him out. He tears it up!"- Tony Young (Master T), MuchMusic.
His commanding interaction with the fans, his high energy and heat generated during his soulful jams have combined to earn Morgan the reputation of being one of the few artists who can deliver that which his recordings embody.  reviews such as "Toronto based crooner Carlos Morgan puts the boots to the notion that Canada can't produce slick, sexy urban music"- SOCAN Words & Music: "Top R&B/Soul vocal stylist"- Billboard Magazine; "One of the best practitioner of R&B in North America let alone Canada"- Mike Bullard, CTV & The Comedy Channel.

Inspired by such music legends such as Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Luther Vandross, J. Moss, Kim Burrell and Barry White, Morgan Parkes evolution brings him to the release of his second CD "On My Way Back" releasing 2008.

Morgan Parkes will be releasing his sophomore CD "On My Way Back" in the Summer 2008.   Morgan Parkes is writing, recording and producing with upcoming producers such as Camp Soul, J.I.G.M. and Eternity Music.

The first single from "On My Way Back", which will be released for the summer time, is called "Hey Yo T.O."...... a song that refers to Morgan Parkes home town and the good times that one has whenever visiting Toronto.  Other songs which includes "We're Gonna Make It", "Selfishly In Love" and and the title track "On My Way Back" which explains Morgan Parkes absence and "return"...... beginning to find himself, the life and love that he never had.

From all the many life challenges, changes and triumphs, Morgan's decision to go back to his "roots" and reclaim the name he was given at birth to signify and represent where it all started, will give the listener insight into the vulnerabilities, sensitivities, pain, anger, fear, shame, guilt, lies, abuse, abandonment and addiction that has plagued Morgan's life.

Given the name Carll Parkes, "On My Way Back" will tell the story of Morgan/Parkes and the "issues" that has been a constant struggle in his life.  Songs like "Where I've Been, Where I'm Going" tells of Morgan/Parkes struggle and acceptance with his own self love, self respect and dignity as well as towards his fellow "brothers" and "sisters".

Having the creative control he desired, Morgan/Parkes vision to fuse the diversity of music genres that inspires him melding them with his R&B signature so there will be no mistake interpreting which genre Morgan/Parkes calls home.  Using his sizable vocal gifts, arrangements and ability to deliver multi-layered harmonies while utilizing his sing writing and production skills, Morgan/Parkes will succeed at making "On My Way Back" an album with international impact and appeal.

Diverse, like his influences, Morgan/Parkes works with some of the best songwriters and producers in the business today.  From those whose track record comes with name recognition such as Mischke Butler (Michael Jackson, B2K, Spice Girls, Dwele and Houston) Matthew Gerrard (Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, David Foster) Stephan Moccio ( Celine Dion, Sarah Brightman) Perry Alexander (Shawn Desman, Kesha Chante, In Essence) Ceasaro Grant of Agape 181 and Colin Monroe of CDM Music;all producers to watch for.

These incredible, talented musicians and producers translate Morgan/Parkes music to the tangible on tracks like the sensual neo-soul "Rain", a metaphor for love.   It's rain drops imagery bathes you in a cascade of affection.  "Break My Heart" communicates well it's title with it's timeless jazz sounds, the sorrow echoes in the hook delivered as only Billie Holiday can.  Finallly for those wooed by his previous ballads, Morgan/Parkes does not disappoint in the delivery of the power pop ballads "Sweet As You Are" penned by Morgan/Parkes to "Just Jane" penned by Laura & Earl Torno and Kurt Hagan.  These songs are destined to be cross over hits.

When realized everyday that truth, love and forgiveness are the gateways to peace, Morgan Parkes will not only have you "Feelin' Alright" but he will also show you his willingness and desire to be "On My Way Back".
