I was asked to write a bio for Casey Barnes. Will it be edited? I asked. "No, just write what you want" they said. Can I tell the truth? I asked. "No worries" they said. I didn’t believe them, but here it goes. If, when you get to the end of this, Barnes sounds like every mothers favorite son, then know that my original musings have been gotten to by the pencil necks at head office. But I digress, and shall pre-empt that later.

Casey Barnes is a very talented soul. He has a knack for writing songs, that for some bizarre reason that is beyond my comprehension, chicks love. Sure, they're catchy, and yes, he does have the ability to make it sound like they come right from his heart or some other important part of the anatomy. And yes, he does have a smooth chocolaty voice that makes you want to take him in out of the rain and put him in front of a warm fire with a hot bowl of soup. He's got a dry sense of humor and one of those smiles that makes you think he'd never do anything nasty to anyone. Note: I am heterosexual, these are just the comments I get from dribbly females at the shows of his that I’ve been forced to attend out of friendship.

The boy does work hard, clawing out a career and gently releasing with loving care two albums of catchy acoustic based pop (Record company dude's description). He doesn’t overuse the word "baby" in his lyrics, which is admirable. "Never has so much been achieved for so many, with so few chords' would be my description. He's quite comfortable sharing the stage with Bryan Adams, Diesel, Eskimo Joe and the like and seems to get the same reaction whether its 8000 people in a vineyard in the Hunter Valley, or 5 people by a fireside. People love him. Chicks love him, blokes like him, mums love him, it’s all a mystery to me. He's just a really likeable, talented bloke, but I’m doing my best to not get sucked in. Anyway, seeing as you're here, you better buy some of his music, otherwise it will be my bloody fault. And I still have to watch footy with him.
