Chantelle Constable, soprano...

I'm a 17-year-old soprano from north-east Kansas. I've been studying voice since I was 12, and playing piano since age 5. My focus until now has been "classical" singing, but I am currently working on old standards and showtunes with the intent of becoming a jazz singer. (Hence the title, "Swingin' Soprano." And no, I don't intend to abandon arias completely.) I would also like to incorporate indie-folk-rock music into my repertoire. I've participated in several choirs over the years, including most recently the Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale directed by Dr. Reginald Pittman of K-State. I am available to sing at private events in my hometown area.

Vocalist Available / Musicians Wanted

Attention all Manhattan, KS area musicians! I'm looking for opportunities to perform live, with college-age people who are more interested in having fun and learning than making money. If you're a band looking for a vocalist, or a solo instrumentalist (a pianist, perhaps) looking to collaborate with a singer, I'm your girl! Jazz/swing/standards and indie/rock/folk musicians only; heavy metal need not apply. =)

Currently... on my church's worship team, singing in the Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale and the Golden Belt Vocal Festival, taking voice lessons from Leia Edwards
Projects: Selling CDs and learning new music.
Plans: 2007 Boston University's Tanglewood Institute
Goals: Finding the right songs from the Great American Songbook to fit my young soprano voice (ie, learning to be a jazz soprano), and hopefully finding some local musicians to jam with!
School: Graduated from high school (homeschooled!) in '06, and took one semester of college classes that fall. I'm avoiding textbooks for the time being, and pursuing real-life music education.
Other amusements: Writing (stories), reading (avariciously!), web design, criminology / criminal justice / forensic science. I go through various "interests", rather like Chet Morton and his hobbies. One week I raid the library for books on Vikings, the next for Victoriana...
