About Artist

CITIES ARE FOR_PEOPLE is the solo project of Val Vallis, the drummer with the legendary kings of Holbrooks, "The'Dozers". Based at Sub27 in Nottingham CAF_P have been writing and recording epic electro tunes for 3 years, often dark, cinematic soundscapes but always with that killer hook. Growing up through the 80's its no suprise that the recordings are sometimes influenced by synth and the new wave bands of that decade, add in a dash of shoegazing and some big guitar riffs and there you have it . . .CITIES ARE FOR_PEOPLE. "CAF_P The Subcutaneous Recordings" was the first release back in 2007 and included the stand out tracks "Spiral Dive" featuring The Stodge on vocals, "Civilia" featuring Will Lillejord and "Sunday" with guest vocals by LadyW and guitar from Johnny Jackson. The second full Lp release is due in September 2009 entitled "The Reality And The Disappointment of the Machine For Living". A group of songs about the promise of steel and glass futurist towns, modern utopias and how it hasn't really panned out. How the world around us is nothing like it was shown to us as kids on TV. It was again written and recorded at Sub27 and features contributions from the usual suspects along with first time contributers BreadKnife and MimiPopstar with others to be confirmed (as they ain't done em yet!) the record has a much bigger sound than the first album, it seems to have more of a "band feel about it, it grooves heavy" The first track from the forthcoming record is "A Mothers Love" a dark, guitar heavy song inspired by recent violent events among the youth of the UK, 'one particular event just seemed so unprovoked, but the thing that struck me the most was the response from a grieving mother, complete forgiveness and an out pouring of love, amazing" The Stodge once again has provided the vocal content. More tracks will be added over the course of the next few weeks, so keep 'em peeled. Go well V.
