Heartfelt music is timeless, indestructible, yet incredibly intimate. Clifton Roy & Folkstringer write and perform heartfelt music. Clifton's voice is the voice of a wounded boy lover,  just old enough to be jaded by the weight of his dreams, but still naive enough to urge us to believe with him. Christie McClure brings a world weary tone to her plaintive harmonies, which fill the melodies with so much warmth you could almost roll yourself up in them like a blanket. Gregory Morland's incendiary mandolin is as capable of rocketing through jazz-tinged bluegrass licks as it is of teasing you into letting your guard down with airy arpeggios and Celtic inspired moments of calm contemplation. "Crazy Licks" Craig Hauge bends the upright (double) bass to unexplored territories with precision bow work and his overwhelming array of slaps, slides, and lines that dance so much you can understand why they have no need of a drummer.

Together they are the best kept secret in Chicago. See them once and you'll understand.
