Swedish indie band CONCHIS was originally formed as a three-piece back in the winter of 2005-06. Lead vocalist and guitarist Andreas Marmbrandt joined up with Mikael Malmaeus on the bass and Robert Andersson on the drums. Right from the start they all felt that this might work out very well indeed: they had the material, the melodies and the talent! Jonas Käll later took over the role of bass player from Mikael, who switched to playing the guitar instead. CONCHIS’s extended line-up also includes two extra backing vocalists, Joakim Dahl and Sofie Mellberg.

 

All of CONCHIS’ material is written by charismatic front-man Andreas Marmbrandt. The vocal melodies are always prioritised and focused upon. When necessary, the music take a step back, leaving room for  the vocals. And let’s face it, the voice it brilliant and as French Web-fanzine Sucrepop wrote in March -07, “Cette voix devrait faire quelques ravages dans la gente feminine,” which roughly translates into “This Voice has the potential of winning many hearts within the female gender.”  

 

All in all, CONCHIS has good songs with good, catchy melodies, as well as very well-written and beautiful lyrics. And they convey all of this in a very convincing manner.
