Unfortunately, hip hop in the mainstream these days has gravitated towards a culture of negativity and degradation. Of course, this does not go for all but there surely is a great amount of it out there. it seems to be cheapening the idea and notion of hip hop altogether. cousin affect attempts to return to the roots of music. you will find many influences of old soul, r&b, and blues in our music. we tend to use common blues progressions with funk sounds in our beats. we truly believe this makes for an interesting style of music. we also do not use any samples while producing the music. natural sounds off the triton keyboard and sounds from the instruments themselves is where it comes from. cousin affect and all the artists that includes work out of arizona. we are working hard to gain support and hope to gain success. most of all, we hope you enjoy the music, because it's for you. we don't make the music for ourselves and we've found it's never as good when you do. we love positive and progressive music. we would love for it to spark you to think about something you may never have thought about or, perhaps, think about something in a new way. this is the process we try to go through everyday. we highly respect all the groups, musicians, and artists, old and new, that we gain influence from. if we can amount to any small percentage of them musically, we will be extremely satisfied. most of all, we hope you enjoy! tell us what you think.
