- Lebo Sebele - Vocalist and Songwriter
Lerato Sebele-Shadare discovered her love for music at a young age and started singing in both church and school choirs. Her professional career began more than 10 years ago as a signed artist with David Gresham Records, she later joined forces with a local Hip-Hop group 'Kaydo' that signed under Gallo Music. She ventured to new hights as a soloist for the gospel sensation 'Joyous Celebration'.
In 2002 her journey lead her to theatre where she was afforded the opportunity to join the cast of the Broadway hit 'The Lion King' in Hamburg, Germany; thereafter followed an array of theatrical projects including Vienna Kammer Opera, several European Musical tours and an all American Gospel tour "The Very Best of Black Gospel". During this time she also taught and directed several choirs while exploring other ways of self-expression through poetry and songwriting.
She is an experienced Thespian who views music not only as entertainment but as a way of life.
Born to family of artists, poets and music lovers, Lebo Sebele was sure to find herself in the world of the creative arts. Upon completing her schooling in Gauteng, she moved to Durban to study Jazz and Popular music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's 'School of Music'.
Whilst studying, she discovered a love for performance, music education and composition and it was then that she was asked to stay on as one of the educators at the establishment. She has, since then, been involved in various musical projects and festivals i.e. The Grahamstown Standard Bank Youth Jazz festival, Durban City Celebration and The Maputo-Durban Connection just to name a few.
Lebo Sebele is a performer and songwriter who views music as an artistic platform where possibilities are endless.
