During the *Hangnagerfete* in Iphofen in July 2004 Anja, Alex and Sven (Alaska Fire) decided to start a musical collaboration and to found a new band. Only in September 2004 they found the right musicians they had been looking for. And so first of all Frank of Double U See joined the band as their new solo guitarist. Some time later Klaus of Green Hell, with whom they already had stayed in touch before, followed him as a drummer. In the middle of October the post of the bass player was taken by Benjamin of Alaska Fire and so the band was complete. First the band thought about calling themselves *Chane*, but then they had to realize that this name was already protected by copyright. After more than one week of pondering Frank had the idea to call the band *Darken* what means *sich verdunkeln/dunkel machen* in German. As every man has a certain dark part we decided to take this name and DARKEN were born. After we had finished the songwriting for the first cd, people could listen to our first demo tapes on mp3.de or on our homepage.We got positive RESONANZEN without exception. The song *No More Lies* kept position for six weeks under the Top 5 of the Metal Download Charts on mp3.de. With 2000 previews and some more than 1000 downloads success arrived very surprisingly, but it confirmed the harmonious method of working of the band members. Fortunately the track *Invisible Me* was able to beat these statistics, also this song kept position one of the Metal Charts several times on mp3.de. In the beginning of 2005 Frank decided to priorit..ten lenken auf a cover band. He and the band, however, noticed pretty soon that a part of the band had died with his loss. Although the rest of the band tested some candidates for the post of the solo guitarist, they didn't find the right person. In the middle of the year 2005 Frank decided definitely to stay. In the beginning of 2006 the band is going to publis their first cd *Beginning Of Our Fate*. The recording of the drums are done in the Soundcube Studios in Bamberg. We will do the rest of the recordings in our own Fire Riser Studios. At the moment the band is working out the songs and the necessary arrangements and recordings. Since the end of October you can see the band , trying to attract the crowd with their mix of great melodies and hard riffs, *on stage*, too.
