About Artist
Dave Watson was hatched on June 25th, 1967 and hails from Columbia, South Carolina. He stands about 6' tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. His mother and father, still married for the last 49 years, are still residing in South Carolina. Dave has two siblings. Charlie who is also in South Carolina and a sister, Jenni who lives in Houston, Texas.
Dave plays a variety of musical instruments from acoustic guitar to piano, drums and bass guitar. His mainstay instrument is guitar though. His musical influences range from Lee Roy Parnell to KISS. If you would take the time to go to his myspace at www.myspace.com/davewatsonband, you'll find that he is a very open minded guy when it comes to the business of music. Especially how it is performed and marketed. Dave loves to write music and record his music as well.
He also loves video games and the New York Giants, Indianapolis Pacers and The Atlanta Braves round out his sports appetite!!! Dave also is a big movie buff listing "The Passion Of The Christ", produced by Mel Gibson as one his all time favorite movies. Which comes as no surprise as his family and he are devot. He loves great actors such as Jack Nicholson, Robert (Bobby) De Niro, Al Pacino and Helen Hunt along with Micheal Keaton too.
Dave spent alot of years chasing "the dream" like anyone else would. Depending on what time frame in his life, you could find him playing in and out of rock and country venues across this country and all over Europe. Mainly in the Mediterranean area when he was in the military.
Dave gave seven years of his life dedicated to his country. Dave received countless accommodations and awards while serving in the U.S. Navy with an A-6 squadron, VA-75 The Sunday Punchers, from 1986 to 1990. The squadron was based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Then four years of shore duty mostly as a police officer for the military in Kuwait. He was in Desert Storm and has 29 confirmed kills defending his country. He also was on board the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy the day the U.S. launched attacks against four of Kadafi's MIG 21 jet fighters that never made it back home. Remember when Kadafi would say, "Cross this line and you die", we crossed it EVERYDAY!!!! GO NAVY!!!!
Mr. Watson has the pulse of a kicking country show running through his veins and exploding straight through his heart out onto a dance floors across the country. The pounding beat just gets stronger everyday. Dave moved to Music City - Nashville, Tennessee - in August of 2000 and went to work doing his own thing. Tired of what he dealt with in other bands he knew from a "sideboy" point of view what was fair to players and what wasn't. With this mentality he was able to put together the best musicians in town. It wasn't easy!! It takes time to network the best in town. This group, in and around Nashville, has received accollades and a local following second to none. They are known as "The Smokin Section". Dave Watson & The Smokin Section played downtown Nashville's infamous Broadway strip for two or three years at The Stage, Legends and Tootsies to name a few. Consistently drawing at least a thousand people a night. Dave spent the majority of five years with the group in world famous Printers Alley at The Fiddle & Steele Guitar Bar. No matter where they played in Nashville they give 'em four hours of continuous music without any breaks. This is what seperates the men from the boys!!!!
Constant attention to detail provided him with the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of : Rhett Akins, David Lee Murphy, TY Herndon, James Bonamy, Lorrie Morgan, Little Texas, Joe Diffie, Neal McCoy, Wade Hayes, Sherrie Austin, Andy Griggs, Sammy Kershaw, Jo Dee Messina, T. Graham Brown, Blackhawk, Tim McGraw, Billy Ray Cyrus, Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, Lee Roy Parnell, Earl Thomas Conley, Ricochet, Darryl Singletary, Mindy McCready, Tracy Byrd, Daryl Worley, Yankee Grey and on it goes.......
Dave is currently under management and has a prominent investor in place. If we don't have it....we will get it. He is currently looking to upgrade his management team and is on the look out now for new booking agents as well as promotional companies, etc.
On the 28th of June this year, Dave released a new CD, "Better Off Late Than Never" and is available through this site soon as well as at his myspace address. If you pose an interest at all please don't hesitate to contact us at davewatsonmusic@yahoo.com , www.myspace.com/davewatsonband , www.reverbnation.com, www.unsigned.com, www.soundclick.com and www.discoverstars.com.
The general and most sought out objective is to bring the best show possible to the stage and make your clients ask, "When are THEY coming back?". No expense will be spared to provide this at any show they do. If having a memorable kick ass evening is something that you shy away from........well then...........these are not the boys for you!!!!
Enjoy!!!
