The four members of Dead Zealous had been friends long before they came together collectively. While working on separate projects, bassist Casey Rooks, and singer/guitarist Brent Merrill, began collaborating in late 2007. The two liked the direction of the music and decided to commit full time to the new project. Merrill had used the name Dead Zealous on demo material in the past so the two decided to stick with the name. Guitarist Devin "Duncan" Kirby, and drumming great Grant Long were quickly brought on board and the four have been relentlessly writing, rehearsing, and gigging ever since. The band released it's first full length video for the track "Lockdown" in September of 2009 and another video for the live recording of "Zombie" in October 2009. In November 2009, guitarist Micheal Harris joined the band. Dead Zealous is currently writing new material for another recording and a DVD is in the works. They are also shopping for management.
Dead Zealous is a Southern Alternative Rock band with influences like The Allman Brothers, Sevendust, James Hall and The Black Crows. The band is most commonly compared to The Cult, Soundgarden, and Blue Oyster Cult.
