District of East are an independent band from Brisbane, Australia

Somewhere between Crowded House, The Verve and Ryan Adams you will find a gregarious bunch of gents from Brisbane, Australia, who collectively, call themselves ‘District of East’.  Formed in Mid 2008 from the result of a University assessment piece while at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Mike Mogridge (Vocals, Guitars), Chris Dowdle (Vocals, Guitars, Keys) and Brenton Fitzgerald (Drums, Vocals Percussion) decided to take their project beyond the classroom and try their luck in the real world.  The trio enlisted Trav Hagstrom on bass duties and a little later, Matt Heindorff and his arsenal of vintage analogue synths and with that ‘District of East’ was born.

Between the members truly lies a wealth of professional live music and studio experience.  All are University trained musicians who work tirelessly to create meaningful lyrics combined with attention grabbing melodies and arrangements more closely akin to the sounds of the mid to late 1990’s than what exists on the Australian musical landscape today.

‘District of East’ are at present boiling beakers over Bunsen burners in order to create their début EP, due for release Late 2009.  In the meantime District of East plan on playing many, many shows so stay tuned to your gig guides!
