About Band
Biography
Anyone who claims to have their ear firmly to the ground on the UK urban unsigned scene should no doubt then have already heard of The Don-Desperados. Entering the music scene at the end of 2005 early 2006 the group consists of three main members which are Dinero, Little-D and Skye, then there’s Jimmi Juelz the groups producer, and three other full members which are Dertee, Dice and Nino all childhood friends all from the same part of North London. Already just in one year Skye, Dinero and Little-D who where born and raised in Hornsey, Tottenham and Wood Green North London, have made quite an impact on the Urban scene and by all accounts are destined for success in the U.K mainstream but are hoping for credit internationally .
However it's only when speaking to Skye, Dinero and Little-D do you fully gauge the reasons why they has developed such a strong following.
For Three young men they have genuine vision, talent, ambition, intelligence, humility and strength of character in equal measure.
Regarded as promising U.K Urban artists, they have a unique individual voices and highly respected song writing skills which they first recognised the power of in about 2004. But perhaps the greatest strength of the group is the ability to completely engage and captivate live audiences. "For me, a Vocalist should be able to do exactly that; someone who can perform their material live and who has the ability to touch the audience lyrically". This ability to reach out and touch those that are listening is a major reason why they have already built a relatively sound reputation and made such an impact.
When asked about who has influenced them they mention many people from a dynamic list of both artists family and friends. As far as role models and people who have supported us and are music we will have to say firstly are mothers who raised us
Through many troubled times, through the struggle and drama we owe our mums our lives and we love them so much.
Then are close friends and family particularly our immediate family and friends. In life you need good friends that are real and we are lucky to have them because they help keep us grounded and on point."
As far as artists go we grew up listening to people Like Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and any other roots music that are mums would play on a Sunday...Lol. From young we have really appreciated their stuff... Like others are age
We also have artist from the more modern era who have really influenced us of course The late great Tupac Shakur, who hasn't been inspired by him huh? We are also a big fans of Biggie Smalls and Nas because there stuff is really one of a kind and finally Dead Prez and Tragedy Kadifi both have great meaningful songs and are real foundations for our rap styles and influences along side others of course like Wu Tangs Ghostface, Method, Raekwon, Fat Joe, Cam’ron (in his early days…LOL) and a few others.
Most of Don Desperados material can be categorized as either possible club anthems and party tunes or reality rap and hardcore in your face hip-hop based on positive vibes or more real life issues, mixed with stark portrayals of the harsh realities that life brings, that they have gained through many life experiences while living in the unforgiving streets of London. It is clear that though desperado’s material is real and confronts serious issues that other Urban artists are scared to touch on, they really break down and explain why the streets negativity is so easy to grasp hold of and run with.
Skye says 'We don’t promote violence or any type of beef, but we do promote the streets and in every street some where there’s violence, beef and negativity going on'. We try NOT to leave out all the bad parts to the streets story and make it look like a fairytale (because its not) instead we tell what’s really going on and what its like to have a young Urban British mentality. We would like to use our music as a positive medium to both old and young, white and black, rich and poor, helping to lift and to elevate people in all types of negative situations and to provide hope.
