About Band

Angel Ricardo Perez was born during Motown's popularity in Oakland California, and picked up his first guitar when he was four years old and started learning songs off of the radio soon after. One of the first songs he tried to learn was Hound Dog by Elvis Presley. So he can actually say that Elvis was one of his first influences as well as the beatles, Buddy Holly, and a lot of Motown artists like Barry Gordy and Smokey Robinson. At around the same time he also started to listen to and pick up country music artists like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings.

He wrote his first song when he was about twelve years old; when he formed his first rock band and performed for his Junior High School. He knew that he would always be in music and played in many different bands from Rock 'n Roll to Tex Mex and Country.

He decided to serve his country and joined the U.S.NAVY right out of high school, which put his music career on hold for about three years. Then soon after he got out of the NAVY he married and started a family. At this time he continued to play in a Heavy Metal Band and began writing songs about his experiences. However, raising a family and holding down a job was tough enough and trying to find the people to make things work just was not happening. So he decided to to go back into the military and joined the ARMY National Guard in which he still serves today.

In October 2004 his guard unit got called up to serve in the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. How could he ever know that his time spent as a Squad Leader, and what he experienced there and back home alone would greatly influence his career as a singer/songwriter. It gave him so much material to help him express how he felt then and what his feelings are now in regards to how the war effects all those who served, and those who wait (or dont wait) back at home.

Serving in this same National Guard unit is where he met SGT. Roger Pattie an accomplished musician whose imagination and character would create the color and background to the songs about war. After being home for a while and realizing that they could really put the music together, the two of them began recording original songs out in Rogers back porch.

Throughout history; every war or conflict, the terms Battle Fatigue, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or "Shell Shock" is an illness, and the music and lyrics of each song express those feelings that anyone who has served in combat can relate to! He says "I truly believe with all that I know, music is what keeps me sane". He started writing songs soon after his deployment and can't seem to stop. He hopes to God that he can impact the world with his music.
