About Band

Fast Taker is a heavy metal band with influences from Manowar, Iron Maiden, Dio , Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, etc. FAST TAKER PASSES THE TEST!!! Every issue, METAL EDGE spotlights a new/ unsigned band from the CD, so you can investigate further knowing they've passed the METAL EDGE head-through-the-wall test. Here is what they had to say about us: "You don't hear much about metal bands from Puerto Rico: Puya managed to break out during the nu-metal era, and they weren't half bad, but more traditional sounds haven't escaped the island very often. With a little luck, FAST TAKER, formerly of San Juan and currently based in Florida, will break that streak and become serious global contenders. Their classic (but not retro) sound recalls late '70s/early'80s Judas Priest, particularly Gabriel Colón's powerful vocals. He may not have Rob Halford's upper register (at least, he doesn't display it on "Loaded Army," the song heard on our CD), but he's got power and control and never reverts to guttural grunting. If you like Early Man, Saviours or the Sword, but wish they had a little more gloss to their sound, you're gonna love FAST TAKER. They're currently working on a full-length CD featuring former Manowar drummer Kenny "Rhino" Edwards." -Phil Freeman All Access Magazine December 2008 Issue! All Access Music Magazine stopped by a "Metal Show" @The Haven, in Winter Park on November 1st . We thought we'd check it out. Here's what we witnessed. It seems we missed the first band, but we came just in time for Fast Taker band from Tampa. This four piece band sounded really good. A mixture of Judas Priest, Motley Crue and Iron Maiden all rolled into one. An awesome classic old school metal band. With on the money singing style vocals, something you don't see much of in this world of growling metal bands. Great lead guitar work, as well as some head bangin' bass and drums. These guys were a lot of fun to watch. They put on a really good performance . A "Great" band to watch and keep on eye on! *** The new Album will be out soon. It will include 12 new and exciting tracks. *** Check us out at these websites: http://www.myspace.com/fasttaker or http://www.fasttaker.com or http://soundtrack.mtv.com/profile/fasttaker or http://www.mytracks.com/artist51659.aspx or http://www.go211.com or http://www.reverbnation.com/fasttaker or http://soundtrack.mtv.com/profile/fasttaker The band was created in Puerto Rico and is now permanently located in Tampa, Florida - USA. Small Promo Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS8otBRwxp4 Our unmatched and sometimes controversial attitude has added to our shocking stage performance making us a true torchbearer in the Heavy Metal scene. Formed in 2003, but after several line-up changes, it wasn't until 2004 when the dream of the lead vocalist, Gabriel Colon and the bass player Hector Torres started to take form when they hooked up with one of the most genius guitar players they've seen (Yamil Gonzales) and weeks later a very experienced drummer is recruited (Jose Colon) to complete the line-up. In October 2005, do to our quick success, Fast Taker was chosen to be the opening band for heavy metal legends MEGADETH. Fast Taker is the only local heavy metal band to have so much exposure on Puerto Rico’s #1 rock radio station “Alfa Rock”, playing their hit single “I Can See” from their Ep released on July of 2005 for months, reaching the top 10 and staying there for 8 consecutive week’s. In November 2005 Fast Taker was nominated for best heavy metal band in the second annual IXA awards celebrated in P.R., dedicated to all local entertainment. On the first half of 2006 due to high public demand Fast Taker played in every corner of PR including Hard Rock Café and Puerto Rico’s convention center, headlining many metal festivals, making radio interviews and TV appearances. We took the US by storm when we decided to move to Florida on the end of 2007, playing already in many great venues and the first ever Florida’s Nightmare Metal Fest that included many great bands like Cage, Avian, Disaster Peace and many more. 2008 looks to be very promising with many great shows to come and the release of our new album that will include 12 new and exciting tracks. 14th Annual Billboard Song Contest: Billboard presented Fast Taker with an Honorable Mention for our song "I Can See" Please visit them at www.billboardsongcontest.com Fast Taker is proud to support our Troops!
