• Game On: Tracy Kerbuski, 42, of Ravenna, guitar and lead vocals; Lonnie Pearo, 29, of Fruitport Township, bass, vocals; and Dan Puckett, 29, of Fruitport Township, drums, vocals.

• Music style: "1970s roots meets today's modern anthems."

 

• Background: A veteran musician, Kerbuski has tasted both local and international success as a former member of Drop Hammer, Steel Vengeance, Shock, Bold Face and Ten Ton Crush.

After a brief break from the music business, Kerbuski three years ago began to jam with friends again. During one such session he ran into Pearo, a longtime acquaintance. Puckett was invited to join following an impressive audition.

Kerbuski has found himself serving as a mentor to both Puckett and Pearson who prior to Game One had little experience performing live or with a band.

• Quote: "When Dan auditioned he wasn't spectacular," said Kerbuski. "But, he was the most dedicated. He has grown so much as a drummer during the past three years."

In 2006 the groust demo recording, "Set in Stone," with "Drama Pool," in 2008.
Kerbuski believes that a strong work ethic will garner the group success. Kerbuski also admits that he's a tough taskmaster. "If you're in the band you're either going to love me or hate me -- or both," said Kerbuski.

• Most memorable moment: Kerbuski's former group, Drop Hammer, played the Milwaukee Metal Festival in 1987. The band was scheduled to open for a group that promoted itself as a genuine, "Satanic" group, said Kerbuski.

Both groups were instructed to conduct media interviews inside the venue's dome, which is located about 40 feet up in the air. The steps leading to the dome were old, dark and creaky.

Kerbuski took the lead, and all he could hear behind him were the "big, bad Satanic guys going 'ouch,' 'yikes' and 'watch out,'" said Kerbuski.

"I just thought it was interesting -- these tough Satanic guys were burning images into their foreheads," said Kerbuski. "But put them in the dark, and they were terrified."

• Upcoming gigs: 3-11 p.m. Aug. 15, 10th Annual Pig Roast to benefit Muskegon Harbor Hospice. Dinner is served 4-7 p.m. Location: 260 N. Buys Road, Muskegon. Hosted by Mike and Wendy Brown and family in memory of Marsha Anne Brown.Cost is a suggested donation -- $20 couples, $5 children. Game On is scheduled to perform at 6:30 p.m.
