About Band

The sound that is Glitchell has been described as a mixture of late 80’s pop-punk rock with a rock grunge feel. With influences ranging from NOFX, Buddy Holly, The Ramones, Screeching Weasel, and the Descendants , This band was built on the love of music and the passion to play live shows at local venues and abroad.  While staying grounded in their musical roots Glitchell composes rhythm driven riffs layered with creative pop hooks and heart felt lyrics. However, combined with the raw delivery of Alexander’s distinctive voice, the band realized a sound reminiscent of the songs they all grew up listening to as kids. Glitchell, a pop-punk / rock n roll band from the Baton Rouge area was formed in April 2006 when two musicians bonded by a life long friendship who shared the same enthusiasm for pop-rock music got together to hang out and talk about old times. Todd Alexander of WSE / Prolific Rash and Rhett Babin of No Big Deal / Octavious decided that the Baton Rouge area needed something fresh in the local music scene. With drummers being scarce in the Baton Rouge area, Babin who was originally a bass player volunteered to play drums for the project. Russell Johnson was then contacted to orchestrate lead guitar and backing vocals for the band. Kurt Bernard of Save vs. Spell / Insurrection was then contacted to fill the position for bass guitar and to finally solidify the lineup. With many schedule conflicts Babin was unable to continue playing drums for the band and Anthony Monceaux former Captain Howdy / Julian’s Cage drummer was called to fill the spot. Once this quartet melded together in rehearsals the lineup was set and work began on the full length demo. With the demo recorded and gig dates lined up the band began playing shows around the Baton Rouge area immediately. Playing close to home is where they want to be for now as they gain a fan base and are able to record a full length album containing the power pop rock songs they are performing live. The Band has tentative plans to record a full length album later this year and will be released independently.
