Derrick "Greedy Green" Matthews was born on September 15,1992, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He started writing poetry at eight-years-old in 2001. Later, at age ten, he moved to Arizona and began writing serious rap music. Greedy recorded and performed with his first group, Front Line Souljaz, in Sierra Vista, AZ. After some problems in AZ, Greedy Green moved to Ohio to stay with his father. Amid all the chaos, ultimately, the drive to better himself and pursue his dream of music saved him from continuing down a path that could only lead to life on the streets. Instead of that lifestyle, Greedy Green started selling copies of his first mixtape, The Realist Youngin, against his father's wishes at age 15. His junior year, Greedy Green moved to Colorado Springs. When he turned 16, he formed the group, The Future, with Jared "Lil J" Ems, and Jesse "T Rex" Gonzales. The group performed at the Union Station in November 2008. The Future started doing shows at The Dragon's Lair in the fall of 2009. There, Greedy Green met Joel "Inta:lect" Brown and Archie "Grip" Escobedo who signed The Future to Untamed Entertainment. In early 2010, Greedy participated in Flo-cab and met JJ "Envy" Aguilar. Envy's lyricism was impressive, and the 16-year-old MC joined The Future. Later, JJ's cousin, Fabian "Fat Boy" Alaniz , a young R & B sensation, was invited to join the roster. After a few months with Untamed, everyone decided to join all together to become one power-house group called the Untamed Family. With six versatile artists, the Untamed Family became a force to be reckoned with in the underground Colorado Springs hip hop scene. After some turmoil, Greedy decided to take a 12-month hiatus from the Family. After a very stressful time and a brush with death in 2011, Greedy started working diligently in the studio. It was there he found the part of him that he had once lost sight of. Reunited with his music, Greedy was no longer searching for purpose in the world and looking for himself as a human being. It is no wonder music has always been a part of Greedy's life; therefore, that music once again "came through" and saved him. This challenging chapter in Greedy's life has helped to open his eyes to the importance of family and friends. Their support has pushed his music through the sound waves in three states, with more on the horizon. Now solo, he continues moving toward perfecting his own craft once again. Accomplishments: Performed over 200 shows Earned Gold Record status on 96.1 The Beat with The Future for the single "I'm Down" Featured on Untamed's first mixtape which has sold hundreds of units in rotation. 1st mixtape "The Paganini Effect" Which has hundreds of units in rotation and still being downloaded.
