GROTESQUE (AUSTRALIA/PERTH) MEMBERS: Tarren Whitfield- Vocals Marc Hawkins- Guitar Trevor Owen- Drums Simon Muller- Bass Grotesque first began in June of 2004 as the brainchild of Perth resident Marc Hawkins, his goal was to begin a new breed of death metal and not adhere to the modern trends of the day. Begining his search to build a strong line-up Marc advertised on a local metal forum for a drummer that was willing to push the boundaries of modern death metal. At the time skinsman Trevor Owen was looking for a band that was going to push his limits and test his skill, fortunately he came across Marcs add and within a week began jamming together. After about 2 songs Marc and Trevor then began looking for a bassist. They auditioned a couple of people for the position to find that they weren't what they were looking for, so they turned to guitarist and friend Simon Muller. After a couple of jams they decided that Simon would make the ideal bassist for this up and coming death metal band, on which all agreed. Not long later the band had found their vocalist, Tarren Whitfield friend and adament watcher of the band then began writing lyrics and developing his now well known 'gutteral'. After months of double rehersals every week the band had then written the material they had been striving for and now acomplished, mixing the similar yet diverse tastes of each member to colabarate and produce what we know today. Mark delivering his brutal and technical guitar riffs mixed with the relentless blasts and unbroken kick patterns of Trevor combined with the finger picked bass of Simon and the devouring guterrals of Tarren to make what most say as some of the finest home grown death metal the scene has ever experienced. Gigs soon followed after, with their first show at a birthday party were all patrons were left in awe. They then continued hitting the local scene with there tight act to then be noticed by 'the right people'. Moving very quickly through the local scene they have then since supported international acts such as Nile+2, Decapitated, Suffocation, Dismember, Blood Duster+2, Psycroptic+3, Alarum and many others, quickly growing there already large fan base. Now under management the band is ready to release there yet to be titled full length album in late August '07' with an Australian Tour booked and ready to go thereafter. With International distribution awaiting we can only wait for the massive global following to come, with plans of touring overseas in late 2008 we can only watch as this phenomanal outfit proceeds to shock and impress the masses.
