Homebrewe is a high energy unsigned alternative rock band originally based in the small coastal town of Albany in the Great Southern of Western Australia but now reside in Perth. The band is made up of three brothers, Casey, Kohen, and Dylan Grogan along with good mate Rory Keys. After rising to become one of the most popular original live acts in the Great Southern, releasing their debut EP “ You Will See..”(recorded at Poons Head Studio in 2007) to over 400 fans in Albany, the band moved to Perth early 2008 to further promote their release. Since the move the band has been making a steady impact on the Perth Scene playing regular gigs to a rapidly building fan base and selling out of their first run of CD’s within a few months. Making it onto the 2009 WAMi compilation CD, which features the best of Western Australian music from the previous year is proof of the bands efforts and mark on the Perth Scene. Homebrewe recently received funding from the Department of Culture and The Arts to record and market a full length album recorded in Poons Head studio to capitalise on the bands ties with the US, and reach a larger Australian audience. The album is set to be released in November 2009. The band was scouted on MySpace late 2007 by Californian based label 272 records to have their track “Never” from their debut EP featured on a US rock compilation titled “Riot on Sunset 9” which features the best up and coming international talent. The band received high placement as track 3 out of 20 and later secured airplay in California. After this success, Homebrewe sent 120 cd’s to the US in October 2008 for airplay on 100 college radio stations, and began receiving distribution on amazon.com via 272 Distribution. The deal came about through 272 Records who wanted the bands entire EP to get airplay in many capital cities including New York and LA just to name a few. The band’s music has been played across the US on College Radio in some prime time alongside acts such as MGMT, The Kooks, The Eels, Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, Eddie Vedder and many more which has got the band’s music great responses. The US airplay has lead the band to be approached by one of the stations- SMASH 679 to feature on another US rock compilation CD with their track “Beautiful View”. The compilation will showcase the best up and coming International acts and be released in early 2009. The band made it through to the WA state final of the National Campus Band Comp (2008) – Australia’s biggest Live music competition, where they took out the “People’s Choice award” winning over the audience with their high energy show and tight sound. Homebrewe hopes to make it onto festival line ups, support some national and international acts, tour the East Coast of Australia, the US and have a successful career in music. ROCK ON!!
