Homemade Abortion Kit started as a hard-rock side project for Kid Spazz and Rage while their other band at the moment was going through rough times. After the eventual break-up of that band, they sat down and really started thinking about what they need to do in music. Their break came when Rage created to programming for the first HAK song, “Sitting In A Corner, So Pretty.” The course of their band's future would shift entirely.

Breaking from the hard rock scene, they started to focus more on programming and lyricism, creating a familiar yet unique EBM/Industrial sound that attracted people to it. After aggressive advertising techniques, the band began to see love for their music...and, sometimes, the complete opposite for their name.

Having lived through what some consider the worst, they released The Jesus Scarecrow E.P., a collection of five original HAK songs, and a remix of “Sitting In a Corner, So Pretty” by Rage's solo project, Death By Seduction. Being reviewed by magazines and having done their first interview, the band was invited to play a battle of the bands. Recruiting Sarge to run the boards for them, they impressed the nay-sayers, earning more shows, fans, and the respect of the community.

Shortly after, they added Kat to their line-up, completing what is the current incarnation of Homemade Abortion Kit. While far from done, they stay satisfied with this line-up, and with their debut album, The Noise That Airplanes Make, coming out late 2009, the band is preparing for more shows, more opportunities, and more hard work.

2009 has truly been the year of HAK.
