What is Local Static?

Local Static is a new program that Hot Topic has created to help unsigned bands/artists show off their talents and music in front of an audience that not only shares the same passion for music but are strong supporters of the local scene as well. Local Static events allow bands to perform in front of small audiences as well as sell their own merch in our Hot Topic stores. No cover charges, no commissions for us, it's all for your band!
Our in-store Local Static program has been such a great success that we are now moving select performances into common areas of the mall such as a food court or outdoor stage for bands we feel will attract larger crowds that cannot be accomodated inside our stores. After the band has performed outside of the store their fans are then invited into the store to meet the band and buy the band's merch. Again, there are no cover charges, we don't take any cuts from the band's merch sales, it's 100% for the band!

What are the requirements?
1. In order to perform the band must use acoustic instruments. We have to keep the noise level down, at least low enough not to upset mall management, other mall tenants or customers.
2. You need to bring your own equipment. We provide the stage but you need to supply the instruments and any other equipment you may need to get the show going including power cords.
3. Despite the fact that we are Hot Topic and we've been known to push the boundaries on occasion, it's still a family store and these events take place in areas frequented by families. Therefore, we must insist that any foul or offensive language be bleeped, removed or otherwise made to be friendly for all.
4. Ideally shows will take place on a Friday night beginning at 7 p.m..

How do I/we get started?

Send a message to this account with the following information:
1. The name of your band or your name if just a solo artist.
2. The genre of music you play.
3. The link to your band/artist myspace.
4. The date you or your band is interested in playing. (Must be a Friday)

We will try and respond in a fashionable time. Feel free to leave a contact number so communication can be handled faster. We'll see you all soon ;)

Meeting all of the above requirements to play at a Local Static does not guarantee you or your band a performance date. All bands must be evaluated and confirmed by HT personnel.
