About Artist
Igor Stanislas, writer, composer and performer, was born on 2 August 1966 at Montmorency in France.
He began writing poetry at the age of 14 which quickly led to first attempts at song-writing. However, it was in 1985, having discovered The Beatles’ Rubber Soul and Abbey Road albums, that he decided to become a full-time musician. This saw the start of his long-term artistic collaboration with song-writing, guitar and mandolin-playing childhood friend, Emmanuel Souque, also known as Emmanuel Mac Manus.
In 1986 they left for London, where Igor set about learning accoustic guitar, following closely The Beatles Songbook and the advice of his long-term friend. It was in London that first groups evolved, namely Requiem and Rose des Vents; the latter of which he was successful in securing for a third demo participation from one of the drummers from Adam and the Ants.
In 1987 he started to learn the piano and write pieces for his ‘Opera Bleu’. During the years that followed he proved himself more than proficient on bass guitar, harmonica and ukelele. From 1988 to 89, he put together two anthologies entitled ‘Premiers Paradoxes’ and ‘Du defi au destin’, followed by an essay ‘L’art infini au-dela des lois’.
At the beginning of the 90s, Igor took over the production and recording of all his own demos and albums. Returning to Paris in 1990, he continued to work with his group Rose des Vents; the group’s first single ‘Walk Away’ receiving extensive airplay on FM radio, and a video clip for the track ‘Animal’ running frequently on the tv channel MCM. Plus numerous concerts at Paris venues, such as Le Palace, La Locomotive and Le Gibus.
1996 saw the birth of the group La Dune, in continued collaboration with Emmanuel Mac Manus. La Dune was a pop/rock three-piece, with Igor’s newly-found skills at bass guitar coming to the fore. Numerous concerts followed at well-known Parisian clubs, along with a tour of southern France, promotional coverage, such as ‘Sous les Etoiles’ on radio France Inter, press interviews, plus the making of a further clip ‘Oh Lord’.
This year also saw the completion of the album ‘Pourquoi tu me regardes’.
From 2002 to 2006, Igor moved extensively into music for films, resulting in three volumes of soundtracks. He also began work, once again with Emmanuel Mac Manus, on a new group Alaska.
But it was in 2004 that work really began in earnest on the Opera Bleu. A year later, the project had very much taken form, allowing a start to the recording in a house in the south of France of this concept album, and including participation from musicians with varying backgrounds and assorted talents (classical, jazz and rock).
The year 2007 sees the album mixed, a dvd produced - including extracts from the recording of four of its tracks with Jean-Marie Migeot at the Opera de Paris, and the launch of the official website. The Opera Bleu is now complete.
2008,concerts,festivals,recording of 14 songs from «the Opéra bleu» with the french producer Jean-Marie Migeot.
The album will be released in february 2009
