INDIFFERENCE ENGINE
tBORK a.k.a. The EARL Of SWIRL;
Keyboards/Synthesizers/bass guitar/programming/samples/loops
INDIFFERENCE ENGINE is electronic/trance/experimental music performed on multiple keyboards with no computer assistance. Hypnotic textures and melodies that build and swirl, moods and sounds that evoke otherworldly landscapes, all grounded to an earthy rhythm. Ranging from alien and esoteric to funky and danceable, it takes the listener on a sonic adventure. The music is influenced by all musics of the world and by all the sounds around us. It uses technology, but injects a human element by avoiding computers and sequencers, keeping it connected to the natural through improvisation and audience interaction.
I have been recording solo material for twenty years apart from the bands I work with;
the BLURKS, FLESHBOY, CAPTAIN COOPER & the EARL of SWIRL,the CREEPBEATS, theEPITOMES
I have also staged MULTI-MEDIA shows in ArtGalleries (simulcast on local radio);
done a TV theme for RyersonTV with TIM BURNS of
"The Chimp Channel"&"Freekland"
and a soundscape for an experimental Theatre production of "The Glass Menagerie"
I played Hammond organ,bass&drums on a track on BOB KEANE's latest album.
I listen to every kind of music there is, from classical to rap, from worldbeat to hardcore,
from jazz to trance, from free-form experimental to funk, it's all influenced me in some way
This is conceived as a continuation/expansion of Frank Zappa's OBJECT/PROJECT
an attempt to reach the cosmic constant~ THE BIG NOTE
indifference has become too much the norm in today's world, fed by the engine of isolating technology
