About Artist

Jordin Sparks was not the only idol winner in 2007. Jordan THOMPSON packs just as much talent and is the same age as Jordan Sparks. Jordan Thompson is this years’ Portland Teen Idol winner! So who will become more famous? Only time will tell, but Jordan Thompson is a serious contender in the fame game! For the first time in Portland, Oregon, Portland Parks & Recreation held their first annual Portland Teen Idol competition. Jordan amazed the judges with her first audition singing Martina McBride’s “Anyway.” Jordan made it to the semi-finals in May, and onto the top 25. It was at that competition that Keith Schreiner, a well-known producer, local musician and judge for the competition said, “she has the look and sound of what this industry demands.” Her sound can be compared to other great performers like Kelly Clarkson and Ann Wilson combining a sound of R&B, rock & roll, a little country, and some awesome hip-hop beats make her sound contemporary pop. Jordan’s night of glory came on June 16, 2007 at the Final Show for Portland Teen Idol. Her first song choice was “Before he Cheats” by Carrie Underwood. Her next song choice was the eighties rock ballad “Alone” by Heart. Audience members, family, and friends were cheering and standing after the first verse of her rendition of “Alone.” One member of the audience said this about her performance, “The hair on my neck was standing straight up!” After winning the competition that night Jordan only had a 24 -hour break before she had to record the single from the competition “Who I Am,” written especially for Portland Teen Idol. The song debuted on July 13, 2007 on the Nationally syndicated morning radio show the Playhouse on Jammin’ 95.5 FM. She has also received quite a bit attention from local press. Next year at this time she hopes to receive International press coverage for her singing career. Jordan maybe young, but she actually started her music career at the age of fourteen. After placing second at the Washington County Fair Teen Idol, Jordan flew to Nashville for a music video competition. It was in Nashville, TN she met with Mark Mosely who has produced Trisha Yearwood, Tim Mcgraw, and other big names. Soon after that meeting she signed with the record label KMA. After six months on the label she decided to come back home to Oregon, finish high school early, grow up a little, and then pursue her career in the music industry. Jordan set her goals and stuck to them. She finished high school early at the age of sixteen. She then began competing in just about any competition she could for singing. All the stage time really paid off, because Jordan is a natural on stage, in front of the microphone and with the press. With all her hard work, comes the reward. From winning Portland Teen Idol many doors have opened for Jordan. In August 2007 she sang the National Anthem for Heart, Josh Turner and Keith Anderson. More recently on December 13, Jordan accompanied Storm Large at the Storm and the Balls Christmas show. She was booked almost every weekend from June through September 2007. Jordan plans on working with an array of musicians as she starts work on her own album in January 2008!
