The Story so Far
You know many of the things that go right, go wrong and are just plain bizarre will in my opinion just go towards having a great story to tell at the end. This is my story so far and after lots and lots of sweating, swearing, fun having and drummers I have finally landed here with my solo project armed with a brand new sound powered jet with which to transverse the turbulent times of the UK music industry.
As the former front man and songwriter behind London’s powerhouse pop band “The Flamistics” I have not come to this solo project without some knowledge of how things work and have been able to put that knowledge to good use.
Late in 2008 I spend six months recording a brand new album to combine all that I had learnt with the band and bring out some more individual thoughts I’d been having for a while. This album would have a better use of technology, a broader selection of sounds and most of all be the pick of some of my best material to date. Through the marvels of some rather suspect home studio equipment I produced and mixed my album and had something ready for the world to hear by early 2009. The album draws on many different influences from pop and rock recordings to more jazz and soul styles in my performance and writing. “Realistic Dreams” was born and suddenly I had a new sound and an exciting new opportunity to perform live.
My live act showcases myself on Keys/Vocals and a great friend from The Flamistics, Pat Avery on guitar who adds wonderful depths and rhythmic interest to my live act. I now have many dates already booked up till late in the year to promote my new album, reshaping many tunes for live performance as well as playing other material from all over my composition catalogue.
Recently justinswadling.com has gone live giving a more in-depth feed to fans on whats happening. This also coincides with the release of “Realistic Dreams” on Itunes and other popular download sites helping me to reach people far and wide to hearing my music.
