About Artist

I'm Karthik K S from Bangalore, a trained Light music singer and a self learned Keyboard player. I started learning Kannada Light Music at the age of 8, of course, am 22 now.

I am very much passionate about Music. I love singing slow and melody oriented songs. I feel, music is the only thing which is universally loved, either in one or the other form. Just to mention, its my first love :)

My mother, being a self-trained singer, is my inspiration. She couldn't make it big, so, I'm trying to carry that on.

Interests:
My interests include Bhaavageethe( a form of Light Classical music, which emphasizes more on the Lyrical content of the song), Dasarapada( Devotional songs composed by some of the great Saints),  Indian Film music, Carnatic-Western Fusion music, etc.. Again, melody oriented stuff basically.
I have little interest in Western music, but I greatly appreciate their chord sense.

My Journey till now..
I've participated in many singing competitions, starting when I was a lil kid in the school, till date. I have performed in many Bhaavagethe Concerts as a singer and much more concerts as a Keyboard player. Some of my TV shows wherein I performed include MSIL Nityotsava, Sangeetha Lahari, Re-Ba-Ba-Re, etc..

Then destiny took me in a different path, and made me a "Software Engineer". Its not that I hated to be one, but always dreamt of becoming a Musician by profession. Nevertheless, my Musical journey is still on, and will remain forever. Now, being a "Techie", I find very lil time for music concerts and practices(of  course), but, somehow able to manage both in my own way.

Inspirations:
I really admire three people, or artists in particular, who have inspired me a lot.
1. Sonu Nigam (Singer): He is the real genius. Nothing more to say. Hats off.
2. Pravin Godhkhindi (Flutist): Being an Engineer, he has dedicated his life to music.
3. Raghu Dixit (Composer): He is the guy who went through all the odds of life and now, is creating huge waves of change in Indian music( Indo-world-folk-rock as he calls it).

Current activites..
I spend my free time with my Keyboard, learn new things, learn about Carnatic ragas, new chords, and finally put everything together and record them in my PC. I've my own ways of sequencing music digitally, and mastering them in my "small" recording studio( regrets for using pirated software here).

Discography:
1. Beladingalante Minu Minuguta: One beautiful number from the movie Psycho(Kannada). This particular song showcases the versatility of Raghu Dixit, who has composed folk-rock songs like "Hey Bhagwan" and one soft romantic song like this !! Hats off to u Raghu.
2. Ee Sanje Yaakagide: One Classic song from a Kannada Movie called Geleya. Originally Sung by Sonu Nigam.
3. Samaagama : This is my first own composition, in raag Chakravaakam. This song is penned by my freind Maheshwar, a big "Kannada Abhimaani".
4. Kuch Tum Socho : This one is from the album Deewana(Sonu Nigam). I've programmed the entire background music and have sung as well.
5. Anisutide : Pouplar song from "Mungaaru Male". Retaining the original  background music, I've added my voice over it.
6. Nooru Janmaku : A very melodious tack from "America America". Originally sung by Rajesh Krishnan. Lovely romantic number.
7. Aadat : This is the Jal version of Aadat. Again, i've added my voice over the original track.
