About Band
Kiko
Mix Portishead, Ella Fitzgerald and an acoustic Dido and you’ll get Kiko - an elegant mix of dreamy, soulful vocals, poetic musing and percussive grooves. Kiko is a four piece band made up of voice, double bass, djembe (african drum) & trumpet, playing a unique style of soulful acoustic trip hop. Kiko takes listeners into intimate contemplations as well as getting them up on dance floors.
Ani (pr. "Unyi") Neradilkova is the bubbling life force behind Kiko which is a collaboration of her lyrical vocals and flute, fused with the powerful horn lines of trumpeters Luke Apps or guest, Jiri Neradilek (Ani's dad), block-rockin djembe or acoustic guitar (Jesse Dubya); and slick Double Bass lines (Marc Llewellyn).
Kiko also performs as a duo or trio with much of the same repertoire and dynamic capabilities as the full Kiko band. The line up is voice, muted trumpet and guitar with some percussion.
Appropriate for smaller venues, cafes, parties/functions which cater for all budgets and support acts.
Influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Massive Attack, Portishead, Tori Amos, Björk, John Butler and Radiohead.
Kiko has played in Sydney at the Vanguard, the Metro, Ruby Rabbit, East Village Hotel, Bar Me, BB’s, the Surry Hills Festival, Peat’s Ridge Festival and the Bondi Winter Festival.
As a support act, the Kiko sound will compliment a range of styles including: Trip Hop, Folk, Acoustic, Jazz, Alternative Rock, Hip Hop, Blues and Soul.
About Ani
As a musician and vocalist who improvises, Ani skats and has the flexibility to write melodies and lyrics to suite themes for film, bands or any composition. Ani works with bands, DJ’s, producers and film composers. Her voice can create hauntingly intimate dark textures through to large up-beat happy jazz to compliment the many moods and emotions expressed in film. Her background in psychology, healing and spiritual growth have contributed to creative lyric writing that has depth.
