5 young men banded together in 2001, with the hope of making their unified voices heard in the often fickleminded Malaysian music industry. This is an industry where appreciation for local urban talents come far and between, an industry governed mostly, if not all, by trends and seldom by merit of talent. Competition is tough, and often made tougher by growing competition in an industry best described as a popularity contest.

The port city of Klang, Selangor, saw the birth of one of Malaysia’s most exciting multi-cultural acts, KLG Sqwad. Putting the issue of colour and creed aside, the collective experiences of these 5 talented men bonded them musically, breaking any social barriers and bringing them together. They are the definitive voice, a voice demanding to be heard, a musical epitome of the ‘muhibbah’ concept.

With a multi-ethnic background, KLG Sqwad, consisting of rappers Ariff Azhar (Yang Ariff), Ng Chor Ming (Ming The Chin), Kokulabalan (Balan Kashmere), DJ/Turntablist DJ Mel and Anugerah Industri Music (AIM)-winner producer D’Navigator has collectively survived various crossroads and obstacles, amalgamating into a definitive creative force to be reckoned with.

Backed by years of live performance experiences, their skills on-stage speak for themselves, earning them crucial collaborations with various established acts around the region. Their determination to succeed is unparalleled, and this determination is only equalled by their desire to make it all the way to the top.
