About Band

Love, Robot has traveled a long, bumpy road to create the unique sound that you hear today. Molded by the surrounding scene in the Long Island area, Love, Robot originally started out as a 3-Piece Metalcore/Screamo band back in 2005. The original members consisted of Jon Biegen on vocals and keys, Brandon Hom on percussion, and Matt Clunie on guitar. The trio played venues around their area including the Village Pub South in Amityville, & the Stony Brook Cafe. After much time spent striving to create heavier breakdowns and faster thrashes, it was decided that the sound grew somewhat monotonous, and the three unanimously agreed that a new sound was needed, a sound that would allow them to delve into their creativity even further. This change of pace was foreshadowed in one of their later songs, entitled "Two Thirds Down". Finally, their altering sound solidified once again with an Indie Rock twist, as they were introduced to the Berman Brothers (Amber, Jessica Simpson, The Baha Men) and Joseph Janus. The brothers and Janus wished for a more mellow sound, and since they were already going in that direction to begin with, Love, Robot decided to furher take up the challenge. Alas, connections were lost with the Bermans and Janus, and the hopes of getting signed through them faded, but the experience left the band with a new sound and a new direction. It was around this time that two new members were added to the band. Jon Davies was introduced as the first bassist that the band had ever had since their formation, and Alexa San Roman joined the group on acoustic guitar and vocals. The band stuck to extremely small gigs, as it was much harder to tap into the small indie scene of Long Island than it was to merge with the broad Metal/Hardcore scene That LI possessed. Around this time it was realized that the internet may be of a greater help to the group at this time, so they decided to get a couple of songs mastered by SSLI Recording Studio, located in Smithtown, so they can upload the tracks and begin gaining exposure via the world wide web. By this time their sound had grown a bit more of an edge, as Love, Robot began to tap into their heavier roots once again, adopting the riskier rock sound that you hear today.
